Bank of Scotland Case Study

The Challenge

The Bank of Scotland/Capital Bank wished to establish a Group Management Training and Development Department.   Bancroft was selected as the partner to support this new operation in the development of the department and its people.   Recruitment of management trainers for the department came from within the company.

The Method

Bancroft produced the departmental manuals, provided personal training and one to one development of Management Trainers.

From the outset and over a number of years, Bancroft provided each new training manager with individual development/coaching, for the interpersonal and management skills required by a management trainer.

"I was exposed to Bancroft for specialist coaching and development when I joined the Group Training Department.   In a large organisation such as The Bank of Scotland we are exposed to lots of training and so:   Why Bancroft?   What is going to be the Difference?   The difference was immense, it was an experience not a training course presented out of a manual and it left an impression on everyone in the department, over 25 of us.

The style was unique and very memorable, so memorable it seems just like yesterday and after 8 years I am still using the Tool Kit I was given back then.   That Tool Kit has enabled me to progress and develop away from a training function into a management role with the responsibility for people and it is still that same skill base I am using moving forward.

As an individual what Bancroft gave me was an awareness of both myself and how I was interacting with others.   An awareness of how others were interacting with each other and I now have the ability to shape that interaction and spot opportunities to achieve the results.   As a Director I come in contact with people at very different levels and am able to use these skills to get what I want from my meetings and my interactions with others.

I consider myself very lucky to have experienced Bancroft early in my career and I would not hesitate to recommend them to any organisation."
